Welcome to Gino Caputi's official web page. Thanks for stopping by. My name is Gino Caputi, filmmaker, artist and author. (Please pause for a pompous sniff.) Tara's Lookout' is set in India and depicts the events in the life of Tara, a young girl with developmental disabilities who spends most of her time observing the world from her family's terrace. The idea came to me in 2006 while I was living in India and I thought it would be interesting to expose Western readers to the day-to-day life in India through Tara's eyes. The book also serves as a gentle reminder to all readers about acceptance and inclusion of those who are differently-abled. Tara's Lookout was launched in Bangalore, India in February of 2012.
Here's what readers are saying: "Tara is an unusually sensitive and wise children's book communicating a compassionate message that crosses generations and cultures. Story telling and engaging art work to delight the mind and move the heart!"--Joe Lurie, Executive Director Emeritus, International House at UC Berkeley "What was stunning were the expressions on the faces. At times I felt I could see real emotions in Tara's eyes. Fantastic rendering on Mr. Caputi's part. And seeing the main character lying in bed at night covering her eyes from inner pain was truly striking and heartrending. He is a most capable author and illustrator. I was truly struck by his ability to portray such a pain-filled and private moment in a fellow human." --Frances Peterson, Classical Soprano, S.F., CA
